WANITA MCA WOMEN'S LEGAL AND ADVISORY CENTRE FOR ALL WOMEN

In conjunction with Malaysia National Women’s Day today, Wanita MCA will establish a centre named Women’s Legal and Advisory Aid Centre at Wisma MCA which is expected to be finalized before 1 Oct 2014.

 

The main objective is to offer legal consultation services and advice to women especially women who are victims of sexual harassment, domestic violence and etc.

Adding that “the counseling service is open to all Malaysians irrespective race, background, religion which includes Syariah and civil law, problems with loan sharks, family law on family matters and marriage.

Emphasising that this latest programme by Wanita MCA to uplift the rights of women is open to all races in Malaysia but the service is limited to women only.

The main aim is to empower the rights and interests of women especially in defending their legal rights so that they are given help and protection in case they encounter problems or threats from any quarters.

Women’s Legal and Advisory Aid Centre will liaise with Bukit Aman’s Sexual Women and Child Investigation Division on cases received. It will also liaise with the Legal Aid Bureau from both the Prime Minister’s Department where such matters come under the purview of Dato’ Nancy Shukri, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department as well as the Legal Aid Bureau from the Bar Council.

The Wanita MCA Women’s Legal and Advisory Aid Centre will be officially launched on 11 October 2014 during the Wanita MCA Annual General Assembly.

Adakala apabila sesuatu dasar kerajaan yang terlalu teknikal perlu diterangkan dengan bahasa yang lebih mudah difahami walaupun terpaksa mengguna bahasa sedikit kasar. Lebih malang apabila berhadapan dengan wartawan yang sengaja tidak mahu memahami isu sebenar tetapi mensensasikan isu remeh.

RIP VICE CHAIRMAN WANITA MCA

National Wanita MCA vice-chairman Datuk Lim Bee Kau passed away today after battling ovarian cancer for seven years.

Lim, 58, who is also Kedah Wanita MCA chief died at 4.30am at Ampang Hospital in Selangor. 

A relative, Chin Hooi Choo, 57, said Lim was admitted to the hospital since March 3 with third stage cancer.

The doctor called all family members yesterday when she was unconscious since 10am yesterday before passing away at 4.30 am this morning.

Lim was diagnosed with ovarian cancer since 2006 and the doctor had advised that a third stage cancer patient could live for up to five years.

Lim’s body would be brought to Taman Golf this evening and she would be buried at the Nian En Memorial Park at Kebun 500 in Pokok Sena on Wednesday.

Lim was the eldest of four siblings and was not married.

She was the member of Parliament for Padang Serai for two terms following her victory at the 1999 and 2004 general elections.

To former MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung, Datuk Lim's demise was a big loss to MCA as she was a hardworking leader in the party.

Datuk Seri Chor claimed the he knew her since 1981 and we have worked together for the party. She was a very perseverant person. Despite her illness since 2006,
she remained active in the party and became Kedah Wanita MCA chief, a post she held since 2004.

She was Wanita MCA vice-chairman for the 2005-2008 and 2008-2011 term and returned to hold the post in the 2013-2016 term after winning in the party election last
year.
